Military Order Or The Purple Heart

Cadets may only receive this award once. Ribbon for this award may be worn on the cadet’s ribbon rack and worn on regular uniform days. Medals will not be worn on regular uniform days or during any type of competition. 7.7.17.1. This award annually recognizes an outstanding underclassman (first, second, or third-year cadet), who is enrolled in the AFJROTC program and demonstrates leadership ability. (Seniors are not eligible) Each cadet must:

• Have a positive attitude toward AFJROTC and country.

• Hold a leadership position in the cadet corps.

• Be active in school and community affairs.

• Attain a grade of “B” or better in all subjects for the previous semester.

• Not a previous recipient of this award.

7.7.17.2. The SASI selects the recipient and requests the award from the nearest Military Order of the Purple Heart unit in February for presentation in April or May. A representative of the Military Order of the Purple Heart will make the presentation at an appropriate ceremony. If no local unit is available, or if the local unit does not offer the award, obtain information by contacting the national headquarters of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
